Young Professional Awards In partnership with the JCJDC and the WIB, we are seeking nominations for the 2010 Young Professional Awards; recognizing three distinct regional leaders under 40 years of age in three categories: Civic, Business, and Arts/Culture/Entertainment. Those honored have achieved professional success or have been active volunteers within their nominated field. Emerge NNY Scholarships for High School Seniors Leading the youth of the North Country toward a brighter future by helping to provide access to higher education is a job for the entire community to embrace. As always, the Jaycees are up to the challenge. This year we have changed the scholarship name from ‘Outstanding Young New Yorker’ to the ‘Emerge NNY’ Scholarship. In addition to the release of this new scholarship program, we will also be offering 2 - $500 Scholarships this year! Emerge NNY is a summit for young professionals organized by the Watertown Jaycees and held annually since 2006. The core principles of Emerge NNY are to: Encourage creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and innovation in the North Country, Empower those who wish to impact the direction in which the area advances, Embolden those who don’t believe that they have a voice, Excite young professionals who live and work in the Northern New York region, Enact a new way of thinking about what we as young professionals can accomplish in our community. We are pleased to annouce this year's award winners, Jeremy Moench from Alexandria Central School and Garrison Cook from Heuvelton Central School. Read the Press Release for further information.
2010 Meeting & Event Schedule: September – Mixer on 9.25.2010 - Apple Picking The next Emerge NNY summit will take place in the Spring of 2011 Past Activities: The results are in and the feedback is important! Emerge 2009 hosted a Town Hall discussion to engage our participants in dialogue about Business Development, Arts, Culture & Entertainment, and Community Engagement work being done in this community. We asked about the progress being made over the past few years in these areas, and then looking forward what more can be done. Read our Press Release for more information. Other Documents: Draft Community Engagement Note Toys for Tots Party In December 2009, the Jaycees we held our second annual Toys for Tots party at the Black River Valley Club. The children will met Santa Claus and Clifford the Big Red Dog.High Rolling for a Cause - 1920s Style On Friday October 30th the Jaycees held our new signature event, High Rolling for a Cause, at the Black River Valley Club. This year’s recipients are Ticia K. Marra, Brian J. Scott and Alicia M. Dewey. Leading the youth of the North Country toward a brighter future by helping to provide access to higher education is a job for the entire community to embrace. As always, the Greater Watertown Jaycees are up to the challenge. We are participating in the 2009 New York State Jaycees' "Outstanding Young New Yorker" scholarship program. Our 2009 winner is Ashley Oxenford from Lyme Central School. Ashley was awarded her $500 Scholarship at the annual YP Day in May of 2009. The Watertown Jaycees are able to participate in this program due to the support of Watertown Savings Bank, Pine Cleaners, and Wal-Mart of LeRay. Congratulations to Ashley for all her hard work and great application. The 2008 Outstanding Young New Yorker (OYNY) Winner was Benjamin Peak from Belleville Henderson Central School. Ben was the recipient of our local $500 Scholarship that we awarded The 2007 Outstanding Young New Yorker (OYNY) Winner was Caitlin Simard from Brantingham, NY, within the South Lewis School District. Caitlin was the recipient of our local $500 Scholarship. Thank you to several local business for helping the Watertown Jaycees support this scholarship program in 2008 - Pine Cleaners and Bolton's Pharmacy. We appreciate your help.
